Memphis in May — Memphis, TN
We were in Memphis in May 2024 primarily for the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, held that year May 15–18 at Liberty Park. That was the reason for the trip, but once we were there we made a point of seeing more of the city as well.
We spent time downtown, visited Mud Island, wandered around Memphis, and took a sightseeing riverboat ride on the Mississippi. The giant MEMPHIS sign in our photo is on Mud Island, with the downtown skyline behind it.
Memphis turned into one of those trips where the event got us there, but the rest of the city made the visit memorable. We had a lot of fun and ended up seeing much more than we originally planned.
