About Rolling Nichols

Traveling together is our happy place.

Rolling Nichols is our record of life on the road — the places we visit, the people we meet, the history we stumble across, and the stops that turn out to be worth making.

We spend part of each year traveling, usually heading south and west during the colder months and returning home when the weather warms. That rhythm gives us time to explore without feeling like we have to rush from one destination to the next.

We travel in Harriet, our 2020 Jayco Seneca 37TS Super C, usually towing our Ford F-150, Vern. Harriet gives us the flexibility to stay longer when we find somewhere we like, move on when we’re ready, and take roads that sometimes lead to places we hadn’t planned on seeing.

The destination matters, but so does everything between destinations.

Some stops are historic sites or scenic places. Others are campgrounds, small towns, restaurants, roadside oddities, museums, or places that simply caught our attention. Not everything has to be a recommendation. Sometimes a place is worth remembering simply because of what happened there, what we learned, or who we met.

Rolling Nichols is also a work in progress and probably always will be. We continue adding older trips, new photographs, road notes, campground experiences, practical observations, and whatever else seems worth keeping.

This isn’t a travel publication and we’re not trying to check destinations off a list. It’s simply our way of keeping track of the road we’ve traveled and sharing some of it with family, friends, people we meet along the way, and anyone else who happens to find something useful here.

If a place turns out to be genuinely Worth the Stop, we’ll say so.

And if it isn’t, we may say that too.
