Graceland Mansion in Memphis during our May 2024 visit.

We visited Graceland during the same May 2024 trip to Memphis. Elvis Presley bought the property in 1957 at age 22 and lived there for the rest of his life. The mansion opened to the public in 1982 and has since become one of the best-known music landmarks in the country.

The tour was interesting on its own, but one moment has probably become our most memorable Graceland story. Coming out of the old smokehouse, Lisa forgot just how low the doorway was and hit her head because she didn’t duck. Ever since then, the running joke has been that Elvis’s ghost tried to kill her.

Between the house, cars, memorabilia, grounds, and that particular bit of family history, Graceland definitely gave us something to remember.
