The RV Park at the Pima County Fairgrounds has become one of our practical Tucson stops. It isn’t trying to be a landscaped RV resort, but that isn’t really what we need when we’re passing through. The sites are open, there’s plenty of room for Harriet and Vern, and the fairgrounds location makes it easy to get settled without a lot of maneuvering.

The park has grown into a substantial operation, with more than 500 full-hookup sites along with dump stations, laundry facilities, showers, dog parks and other services.

For us, it works especially well as a place to spend a couple of nights, take on fresh water, dump the tanks, catch up on a few things and use Tucson as a base before moving on. It’s more practical than fancy, but sometimes practical is exactly what we’re looking for.
