Gather Campground — Belton, TX
We’ve stayed at Gather Campground in Belton several times now, and it has become one of the places we’re comfortable returning to when our route takes us along I-35 through Central Texas.
One of those stays turned out to be considerably more memorable than we expected. We were heading north when severe weather moved through the area, including tornadoes touching down nearby. We rode it out at Gather and came through just fine, which is not exactly the kind of campground memory we normally hope to collect.
What keeps bringing Lisa and me back is simpler. Gather is a newer park just east of I-35, with clean, spacious concrete sites that are easy to use with Harriet and Vern. More importantly, the staff has always been exceptionally friendly and helpful. That combination of good access, comfortable sites, and people who make you feel welcome matters more to us than a long list of resort amenities.
We’ve stayed enough times now that Gather has become one of our familiar Central Texas stops — tornadoes notwithstanding.
