Black's BBQ — Lockhart, TX
Our first trip to Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart was in February 2025 with Gail and Jeannie. We had been to plenty of barbecue places before, but this one felt different from the minute we walked in — long tables, trays piled high, and meat that looked like it had been cooked exactly the way Texas barbecue ought to be.
The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket was so soft it was almost like butter. It was one of those meals where everybody at the table knew pretty quickly that we had found someplace we’d gladly come back to.
Lockhart calls itself the Barbecue Capital of Texas, and after that first meal at Black’s, it wasn’t hard to understand why.
