Towns and smaller cities that gave us a reason to stop, stay awhile, or come back another time. Some were destinations; others were places we discovered simply because we had time to look around.
New Mexico
We only spent a few hours in Roswell in April 2023 — long enough for lunch, a little shopping, and a look around town. It wasn’t a major destination for us, but when you’re already passing through southeastern New Mexico, it’s hard to resist stopping in the place
Arizona
We spent some time in Tombstone in February 2024. It’s one of those places where the history is impossible to separate from the modern town — old storefronts, saloons, historic sites, and plenty of reminders of the characters and stories that made Tombstone famous. We took our time wandering around,
